Unfortunately, some areas are likely to be<br \/>\nharder hit than others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research into the effect of government welfare reforms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Research carried out by Sheffield Hallam University indicates that<br \/>\nsome areas of the UK will experience far greater financial loss than<br \/>\nothers. Blackpool, the Las Vegas of the north, has the dubious<br \/>\nprivilege of being identified as the place where the welfare reforms<br \/>\nwill hit the hardest. Researchers estimate that every adult of<br \/>\nworking age living in the town will be around \u00a3900 per year worse off<br \/>\nin their benefit income. Many deprived seaside towns and older<br \/>\nindustrial heartlands will also soon be feeling the effects, as will<br \/>\nsome of the poorer boroughs in London. Other parts of the UK should<br \/>\ncome off relatively unscathed. These include the southeast and many<br \/>\nparts of London.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wider effect on the economy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The researchers also claim that an estimated \u00a319 billion per year<br \/>\nwill be lost from the economy as a result of the welfare reforms,<br \/>\nthanks to a knock on effect as households can no longer afford to<br \/>\nspend as much in the shops and other local businesses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Widening the gap<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a consequence of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertyportfoliosoftware.co.uk\/video.lha_tenants.html#watch-demo-anchor\">welfare<\/a> reforms, the research team believe that<br \/>\nthe gap between the prosperous southeast and many parts of northern<br \/>\nEngland is likely to widen since the more deprived the area, the more<br \/>\nthe residents will be affected.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is little doubt that the government&#8217;s welfare reforms are going to shake things up a great deal.
